JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Trenton Marshall scored 14 points to
lead Jacksonville State to a 58-55 victory over Southeast Missouri
on Thursday night.
The Gamecocks (9-11, 5-5 Ohio Valley Conference) trailed 55-53,
but Jeremy Bynum hit a 3-pointer with 8 seconds left for a 56-55
lead. Nick Murphy added two free throws with 2 seconds to play.
Jacksonville State won despite shooting 25 percent from the
field in the second half (6-for-24).
Southeast Missouri (6-14, 3-7) took a 53-49 lead on Sam
Pearson's jumper with 3:04 left, but Jacksonville State tied the
score at 53 on Dominique Shellman's two free throws with 1:23 to
play.
Pearson's layup gave Southeast Missouri a 55-53 lead with 23
seconds remaining.
Bynum scored 12 and Murphy added 11. Shellman had nine assists.
Derek Thompson scored 18 to lead Southeast Missouri. Pearson
added 13 and Jajuan Maxwell had 13 points and 11 rebounds.
