BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Junior forward Laura McCalla earned Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week honors after tallying three goals and an assist over the weekend to lead UAB to a pair of victories. It marks the first weekly award of McCalla’s career.
McCalla notched a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in the 3-0 win over host Mississippi State Friday. The Fayetteville, Ga., native then tacked on another goal and added an assist in Sunday’s 3-1 victory over Ole Miss. McCalla already has matched her season total of four goals from a year ago.
McCalla and the Blazers return home Friday to host Western Carolina at 7 p.m. at West Campus Field. UAB then travels across town to Samford on Sunday for a 6 p.m. match.
