AUBURN — The Auburn football team practiced for two hours Tuesday afternoon in preparation for their upcoming Southeastern Conference tilt against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn noted the Tigers were pushed by the coaches during Tuesday’s practice.
“We had a long practice today,” Malzahn said. “We concentrated on the things that we needed to correct from (last
Saturday’s) ball game. We really tried to push our kids, tried to strain them a bit today.”
Despite rolling up 556 yards in total offense in last Saturday’s win over Louisiana Tech, Malzahn stressed the need to eliminate turnovers after the Tigers lost a pair of fumbles.
“We were disappointed that we put the ball on the ground twice,” Malzahn said. “Those were big plays in the game. We also had two holding penalties that were critical on offense. Those are the things that stand out to me (after watching game film). We made some mistakes, but they are correctable, if we work hard.”
Auburn (1-0, 0-0), and Mississippi State (1-0, 0-0), kickoff at
6 p.m. CT from Jordan-Hare Stadium in the conference opener for both teams. The game will be carried by FOX SportsSouth, FOX Sports Southwest and Sun Sports.
