MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama's Alonzo Gee and UAB's Robert
Vaden are the likeliest bets from state universities to be chosen
in the NBA draft, and even they might be longshots.
Both are considered either second-round picks or undrafted free
agents in the two-round draft Thursday night. Gee and Vaden have
been training in Las Vegas and have worked out for a number of NBA
teams.
The 6-foot-6, 219-pound Gee averaged 15 points and 7.2 rebounds
for the Crimson Tide last season, his third as a starter. The
6-foot-5, 205-pound Vaden was one of the top 3-point shooters in
Conference USA and led the Blazers in scoring the past two seasons
after sitting out a year following a transfer from Indiana.
