Auburn found its quarterback this weekend, and it didn’t even have to reimburse him for mileage.
Alabama’s Mr. Football Clint Moseley said Sunday that he would commit to Auburn, immediately after he received an offer, according to AuburnSports.com.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound dual-threat quarterback received the offer on his way back from an official visit to Arkansas State.
Moseley led Leroy High to three straight AHSAA Class 2A titles. He threw for more than 8,400 career yards, which included 3,749 yards and 35 touchdowns with just five interceptions as a senior.
He also ran for 693 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2008.
Moseley also received offers from Marshall, Arkansas State, South Alabama and UAB, according to AuburnSports.com. Rivals.com rates him as a three-star and the nation’s No. 19 dual-threat quarterback.
Moseley’s commitment, along with Auburn High offensive lineman John Sullen’s, bumps Auburn’s 2009 recruiting class up to 21. All-purpose running back LaDarius Perkins decommitted this weekend in favor of Mississippi State.
Brantley High School athlete Anthony Gulley, also a three-star guy, will likely commit to Auburn next week, he said Sunday. The 5-foot-8, 185-pounder said he planned to commit to the Tigers after he makes an official visit to Troy, which had been planned in advance.
Auburn lands local product: John Sullen was going to have to buy a new letterman jacket regardless.
The decision he made this weekend ensured that the changes will be subtle.
Sullen, who was dominant as a big offensive lineman at Auburn High, said Sunday he was committed to Auburn University.
Sullen, a three-star recruit according to Rivals.com, was one of nine prospective recruits in town this weekend on official visits. Only one of the visitors, Odenville’s Dee Ford, had committed to Auburn before the weekend.
Sullen had committed to Southern Miss after a visit last weekend.
Sullen was the only player to leave officially committed.
