Auburn did not add to its list of commitments Sunday, but may have put itself in position to make a big splash Wednesday.
A number of highly touted recruits — many of whom already committed to major schools — left Auburn high on the Tigers, according to multiple Auburn recruiting Web sites.
Four-star running back David Oku (Midwest City, Okla.), considered one of the top overall recruits in the nation and a soft commit to Tennessee, told AuburnSports.com he would not announce his decision on National Signing Day. He has narrowed down his choices to Auburn, Tennessee and Syracuse, according to the Web site.
Oku, along with a number of other Auburn recruits, was spotted at Saturday’s men’s basketball game. At one point in the first half, when Oku got up from his seat, fans began to chant his name. Some even had signs for Oku, one of which said “Oku for Heisman.”
Another Tennessee commit, offensive tackle Aubrey Phillips (Olive Branch, Miss.), told AuburnSports.com he was still committed to the Vols, “but on Signing Day there will be a change.” Rivals.com rates the 6-foot-6, 310-pounder as a four-star.
