TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama is ranked fifth in the USA Today preseason Top 25 college football coaches poll.
The Crimson Tide trailed only Florida, Texas, Oklahoma and Southern California in the rankings released Friday but didn't receive any first-place votes. Alabama finished last season ranked No. 6 in the poll.
Two other Southeastern Conference Western Division teams - LSU and Mississippi - rounded out the Top 10. Georgia was 13th while no other SEC teams were ranked.
Auburn received 12 points while Troy got one.
