UAB Women's Basketball Adds Two For Upcoming Season

UAB women's basketball head coach Audra Smith has signed TaRonda Randall and Miteka Trueheart to play for the Blazers

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB women's basketball head coach Audra Smith has signed TaRonda Randall and Miteka Trueheart to play for the Blazers beginning with the 2008-09 season.

Randall is a 6-2 forward/center from Greenville, Ala. She lettered six years on the varsity basketball team for head coach Andrew Kilcrease at Brantley High School, where she led her team to a 30-2 record as a senior.

Randall accumulated many honors throughout her career, including being named Class 1A Second-Team All-State by the Alabama Sports Writers Association after averaging 14 points, 18 rebounds and six blocks per game as a senior. She has been named to various all-tournament teams, including three consecutive appearances on the Class 1A, Area 3 All-Tournament team. As a junior, she was invited to play in the 2007 North-South All-Star game.

Trueheart comes to UAB from Lancaster, S.C. The 5-9 guard lettered three seasons for head coach Ronnie Robinson at Lancaster High School.

Trueheart averaged 11.5 point, 6.0 steals, 5.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game as a senior, earning her Region 3 - Class AAAA Co-Player of the Year accolades. She also was honored with a spot on the Class AAAA All-State team and played in the 11th Annual Carolinas All-Star Classic in 2008.
