AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Auburn has hired Tony Franklin as offensive coordinator. It's a move that likely means a significant overhaul of the Tigers' mostly conservative offense.

Franklin, who will also coach quarterbacks, spent the past two seasons running his no-huddle spread offense at Troy. He is also a former Kentucky offensive coordinator.

Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville says Franklin runs an "exciting brand of offense." Franklin replaces Al Borges, whose resignation was announced on Tuesday.

The new coordinator will coach the offense in the Chick-fil-A Bowl December 31st against Clemson. The Tigers finished 101st in total offense out of 119 major

college teams this season.

Troy quarterback Omar Haugabook was the Sun Belt Conference offensive player of the year in both seasons under Franklin after transferring from junior college.
