NEW YORK (AP) - Florida quarterback Tim Tebow made history at last night's 73rd Heisman Trophy awards ceremony. He's the first sophomore to win college football's most prestigious award.
The southpaw slinger beat out Arkansas running back Darren McFadden, who is the first player since 1949 to finish second two seasons in a row. This year, Tebow received 1,957 points and 462 first-place votes to McFadden's 1,703 points and 291 first-place votes.
Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan was third, and Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel fourth.
The six-foot-three, 235-pound Tebow is the third Gator QB to win the Heisman. He joined fellow Florida signal-callers Danny Wuerffel and Steve Spurrier.
