BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama’s finest high school football teams faced off this week at Legion Field. Here are the results:


1-A – Sweet Water vs. Talladega County-Central: Sweet Water won their second straight high school state championship on Thursday. Sweet Water dominated the game – they outscored Talladega County-Central by a staggering 35 points.


Final Score – 42-7 – Sweet Water wins


2-A – Leroy vs. Fyffe: Fyffe played a tight game against Leroy, leading 17-13 going into the 4th qtr. Leroy fought back late in the game, winning by a narrow margin.


Final Score – 25-20 – Leroy wins


3-A - Clay County vs. Cordova: Clay County, the perrennial powerhouse of Class 3-A action went up agaist Cordova at Legion Field for an exciting state championship matchup.  Cordova shut down Clay County's high-powered team the entire second half, defeating Clay County and winning by an 8-point margin.


Final Score - 21-13 - Cordova wins


4-A – Central-Tuscaloosa County vs. Deshler: Central-Tuscaloosa County defeated the Deshler Tigers to win the Class 4-A high school state football championship. Central Tuscaloosa won the game by a wide margin, blowing out the Tigers by 27 points.


Final Score - 34-7 - Central-Tuscaloosa County wins


5-A – St. Paul's vs. Briarwood Christian: St. Paul’s defeated Briarwood Christian in an exciting Class 5-A championship game. With the score 14-7 in favor of St. Paul’s, Briarwood blocked a punt with less than 20 seconds left in the game, and ran the blocked punt in for a TD, making the score 14-13. Then, St. Paul’s exacted their revenge…the Saints blocked the Briarwood extra point.


Final Score - 14-13 – St. Paul’s wins


6-A - Spain Park vs. Prattville: The big dogs, Prattville and Spain Park, faced off for the final game in this year's Super Six high school state championship series at Legion Field.  Most of the game was a defensive stalemate with Prattville denying Spain Park a single point the entire game. 


Final Score - 14-0 - Prattville wins
