Stacy Flippen is founder of Hollywood Baby. As her company has grown- instead of sending the jobs overseas- Flippen saved a dying town- Altoona, AL, where a recent manufacturing company had closed down.
Flippen has hired the town’s residents and visits once a week to work with them onsite taking a vested interest in their families and their personal well-being.
What is Hollywood Baby?
• In 2000, Stacy Flippen’s passion for design and marketing partnered with a notion that children’s clothing should and could be better, inspired her to start her own company, Hollywood Baby.
• Hollywood Baby, based in Birmingham and manufactured in Altoona , Alabama began as a small operation run out of Flippen’s basement.
• Hollywood Baby has evolved into a thriving business with more than 30 full and part time employees working from Birmingham and Altoona and roughly 90 hostesses in 13 states across the country.
• Customers select from over 60 unique clothing styles for boys and girls featuring carefully selected fabrics, trims and appliqués.
• Each piece of clothing is made to order with thoughtful attention paid to the even the smallest details.

• Flippen’s passion, dedication and desire to produce high quality children’s clothing have fostered Hollywood Baby’s growth.
• From 2000-2002 production numbers for Hollywood Baby had more than doubled. The business was relocated from Flippen’s basement to a small warehouse with one office and three full time employees.
• By 2004 numbers had more than tripled and Hollywood Baby had again outgrown its space. The business moved into a much larger facility with three offices and additional warehouse space.
• Sales more than doubled again by 2006, and Holly wood Baby chose another new space—a 5,000 square foot facility where half of the space is a dedicated warehouse. Hollywood Baby’s numbers have remained consistent since 2006. The business now employees 15 people full time (4 in Birmingham and 11 in Altoona) and, depending on demand, approximately 15 individuals who assist with production in Altoona part time.
