Tile on countertops

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Tile in your kitchen is great for floors and backsplashes but can also be used on countertops. Granite has become the industry standard for quality countertops. However, it is not cheap. I can really blow a kitchen budget quickly. Why not compromise? Us granite tile! That's right buy 12X12 pieces of granite and lay it with a zero grout line. There will be small gaps-just fill that in with a matching non-sanded grout-and wallah! From a distance it looks like a solid piece for granite-for much less money. There is one issue-the edge. Granite tile comes with an unfinished edge-plus you will need to cover the thin-set layer. You have a few options-granite edging-pieces of granite cut for this purpose-most expensive. Accent tile-just tile the edge using the same tile from the floor or backsplash. My favorite is wood-to match your cabinets. Buy wood and stain/paint to match-it's different and really gives a custom look and accents the granite.

My brain is tired from working the morning show all week-not to mention tracking Gustav-show that's all I have for today!
