VIDEO: Alabama Troops return home from Afghanistan

BIRMINGHAM, Ala-- More than 60 Alabama National Guard members are back in the state after serving a year in Afghanistan.

The troops from Company B, 1st Battalion 169th Aviation Unit flew more than 6,000 hours and transported more than 78,000 soldiers in Afghanistan over the past year.

The company flew and serviced CH-47 Chinook helicopters.

Family and friends welcomed the soldiers home in a short ceremony at the National Guard station at the Birmingham airport Friday afternoon.
