Jefferson Co. Sheriff's Office continues assault on drug houses

BIRMINGHAM, AL-The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division executed a series of raids on Community Drug Houses over the past 3 weeks that resulted in the seizure of multiple weapons, arrest of multiple offenders, offenders now wanted, the seizure of narcotics, drug paraphernalia and items related to the drug trade.

4 were in the Bessemer Division of Jefferson County and 4 were in the Birmingham Division of Jefferson County.

A total of 12 people were either arrested or are now wanted on outstanding warrants as a result of these raids.

Over 400 drug houses have been shut down since the beginning of this initiative two years ago.

Sheriff Mike Hale believes that is a direct correlation to double digit drops in violent crime statistics.

"There is no doubt we have found a good recipe for putting a dent in violent crime" Sheriff Mike Hale stated.

"Shutting down these area drug houses are giving communities some much needed relief, putting dealers in jail and
taking dangerous weapons off of our streets" Hale added.

(1) 2/23/10 – 5231 Main Street, Mulga, Al in the Bessemer Division of Jefferson County.
Items Seized: 3 Pistols, Crack, Marijuana, Lortabs.
Arrested: 24 year old Corey Marcell McGhee of Mulga who was already out on Bond for other drug charges.
Charges: - Possession of Controlled Substance - $30,000 Bond
- Possession of Marijuana - $30,000 Bond
- Giving False Name - $5,000 Bond
- 3 Outstanding Warrants for FTA on Attempted Murder, Possession of Controlled Substance and
Possession of Marijuana – No Bond

- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - $500 Bond

(3) 3/5/10 – 112 Elm Street, SW, Birmingham, Al in the Bessemer Division of Jefferson County.
Items Seized: Crack, Pills, 1 Pistol
Arrested: 25 year old Alfred Earl Williams of Bessemer, Al
Charges: - Possession of Controlled Substance - $5,000 Bond

(4) 3/5/10 – Intersection of West Valley Road and Highland Peak Entrance in the Bessemer Division of Jefferson
County. (It is suspected that he was in the process of delivering the marijuana to local drug houses. An alert Off-Duty
Deputy [J. Bradley] made the initial stop after observing the suspicious vehicle run a stop sign.)

(8) 3/12/10 – 426 80th Street South, (Eastlake) Birmingham, Al in the Birmingham Division of Jefferson County.

(1) Arrest: 33 year old Macherria Harris of Eastlake
Charges: - Trafficking Cocaine - $30,000 Bond
(2) Arrest: 38 year old Randall Primous of 5 Points West
Charges: - Possession of Marijuana 1 - $15,000 Bond
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - $6,000 Bond
