Section of I-65 N in Decatur to shut down Thursday due to sink hole

DECATUR, AL- The Alabama Department of Transportation will shut down I-65 north on Thursday at 9 a.m.

A large sink hole at mile marker 329.9 has been causing serious problems on the interstate.

I-65 will close north bound at the 318 (Vinemont/Lacon) exit.

North bound traffic will detour at the 318 exit travel north on US 31 through Falkville, Hartselle and Decatur to AL 67 south on AL 67 back to I-65 at the 334 exit (Decatur/Priceville) where I-65 will reopen for north bound traffic.

All North Bound entrance ramps will be closed (Exit 322 (Falkville), Exit 325 (Thompson Road) and Exit 328 (Hartselle/ AL 36).
