Second Meth Lab discovered from residence in Shelby Co.

SHELBY COUNTY, AL- On March 15th, Investigators from the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force responded to a residence in the 4500 block of Cahaba Valley Trace on the suspicion of illegal activity. During the course of the investigation it was determined that an active methamphetamine lab was present inside the house. This is the second meth lab that has been discovered at this address in five months. Due to the hazardous conditions present, investigators had to call upon the Shelby County Response Team. The Shelby County Response Team consists of members from the Alabaster Fire and Pelham Fire Departments.

Clay Vincent Carlee, 39 years old of Pelham and Tyler Lane Hinton, 34 years old of Pelham have both been charged with Unlawful Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance and Trafficking Methamphetamine. Each charge carries a bond of $1,000,000.

The SCDETF consists of law enforcement officers from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Alabaster Police Department, Pelham Police Department, Harpersville Police Department, Helena Police Department, the Shelby County District Attorney’s, and the Alabama Air National Guard. The SCDETF is funded by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs and the Shelby County Commission.
