Homicide ruled in death of Tuscaloosa infant

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Tuscaloosa police say autopsy results show that a 2-month-old girl died in from blunt force trauma.

Capt. Loyd Baker of the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit says the infant's head injuries were intentionally inflicted.

Baker did not disclose the infant's name. No arrests have been made.

Baker released information about the death on Thursday, when a letter arrived from the Department of Forensic Sciences ruling the death a homicide.

Family members took the baby to DCH Regional Medical Center on Feb. 15. She died at Children's Hospital in Birmingham on Feb. 26. Workers with the Alabama Department of Human Resources contacted Tuscaloosa police to inform them of the suspicious injuries.
