The National Weather Service and law enforcement report flooding in part of central Alabama. Shelby, Talladega, Bibb, Coosa and Chilton counties are under a Flash Flood Warning until 10:30 a.m. Shelby County law enforcement reports Bishop Creek is out of its banks, with water reaching the bottom of cars near the creek. Ponding on roads are a problem, including ponding on Highway 261 in Helena in front of the concrete plant and water over the road on Highway 17/Valledale Road just south of County Rd. 44. In Talladega County, EMA and law enforcement report flooding on Berney Station Road, McGowans Ferry Road and Heasletts Road in the Lay Lake area. Most central Alabama counties are under a Flood Advisory.

An Alabama Power spokesperson told NBC13 that approximately 2,400 customers in the Birmingham metro area were without power as of 5am. That number was down from 4,600 customers without power around 3:00 a.m. Many of the outages were south of Birmingham, with some scattered outages in Anniston.
NBC13 HD Meteorologist Stephanie Walker says the storms will taper off later today but more storms and heavy rain are predicted for this afternoon and evening, Thursday and possibly Friday. Flooding across central Alabama will continue to be threat.
