TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - A 53-year-old man has been sentenced in Tuscaloosa to 20 years in federal prison for planting a bomb in another man's truck in exchange for $10,000.
Michael Clayton Earnest, who had pleaded guilty to planting a bomb on a Parrish man's truck, was sentenced in federal court on Monday. His sentence includes $771,900 restitution.
Frank Gene Weems Jr., was seriously injured by the July 29 blast.
Earnest and Keith Dewayne Lawson, also of Samantha, were arrested on Aug. 4 and pleaded guilty in December. Lawson will be sentenced April 13.
Tugboat captain Joe Henline of Bessemer, called a person of interest, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Aug. 4. Henline and Weems were involved in civil disputes.
