Some baldness genes discovered

»  Comments | Post a Comment

NEW YORK — Researchers at Columbia University Medical Center found eight genes that play a role in Alopecia, a form of hair loss that usually starts with a small area on the scalp and progresses to total hair loss.

The genes also played a role in auto-immune diseases like arthritis and diabetes -- which could open the door to new treatments.

Until now, researchers thought balding was related to psoriasis.
