A new study shows low vitamin D levels are linked to a risk for Parkinson's disease.

Researchers looked at vitamin D levels in blood samples taken from more than 3,000 people then followed them over the next several decades.

People with the lowest amount of vitamin D were three times more likely to develop Parkinson's compared to the group with the highest levels.

Scientists believe vitamin D may help protect the neurons that are gradually lost in these patients.
