ANN ARBOR, Mich. Two popular Diabetes drugs may increase the risk for fractures in post-menopausal women.

Researchers at the University of Michigan study found women over 50 taking Avandia or Actos were significantly more likely to suffer fractures, and the risk rose as the dosage increased.

Researchers say doctors should be aware of these risks when prescribing these drugs for older women.

Diabetic men had a higher fracture rate if they took loop diuretics in addition to Avandia or Actos.
