The dogs were rescued from Hayden by the Humane Society of the United States. The HSUS worked with the Blount County sheriff's office to rescue the dogs this morning.
Many of the dogs are likely happy tonight, they'll be sleeping in a warm place... that's after they were kept in freezing temps with little food in cramped and dirty chain link enclosures.
Some had to be carried others walked on their own still frightened of their new temporary surroundings, these dogs were just rescued from a Blount County property by the Humane Society of the United States.
United States Humane Society, Mindy Gilbert said, "In this particular instance is someone who really had intentions of doing the right thing and quickly became overwhelmed."
More than 100 dogs were rescued from what's being described as cramped, dirty, and freezing conditions.
Gilbert said, "The dogs were all housed outdoors in chain link enclosures, many of them sharing houses, some of them with makeshift shelters.”
The dogs from Blount Co now join these dogs here at the Birmingham Humane Society. They were rescued just a few weeks ago from TEARS.

The Blount County dogs will be temporarily housed here before hopefully heading off to new homes.
Gilbert said, "In the next day, what we're going to be doing, vet checking these animals, ensuring that they have vaccinations, accessing any critical medical needs. The Montgomery Humane Society will be receiving the majority of these animals, to place in their adoption program probably Sunday or Monday."
Because the homeowner cooperated with the sheriff's office and in the rescue, no charges are likely to be filed.
Volunteers from five counties and two states helped in today's rescue. {filedir_24}rescuevolunteers.JPG
