MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama Attorney General Troy King has
scheduled a news conference to discuss Gov. Bob Riley's Task Force
on Illegal Gambling.
Some public officials have urged King to use his power as the
state's top law enforcement officer to take over the task force and
stop any more attempts to raid electronic bingo casinos.
King has criticized the task force's unsuccessful attempts to
raid VictoryLand and Country Crossing on Jan. 29 without search
warrants, but he has not indicated what he will announce at his
news conference Wednesday.
The governor says electronic bingo machines are illegal slot
machines, but King has said bingo can be played electronically.
