BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Mayor William Bell has asked for new management in the Birmingham Jefferson County Transit Authority.
Bell made the request in a letter to Transit Authority Chairman Guin Robinson Monday and announced it at Tuesday's city council meeting.
Bell is willing to grant the BJCTA's request for emeregency funding if they replace management within 60 days, pay off all debt by end of the year and the create a panel to evaluate authority's finances and processes.
The panel will report its findings within 90 days in conjunction with the American Public Transportation Association.
