ALABASTER, ALABAMA: Students have "Heart for Haiti"

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The earthquake victims of Haiti have been on the hearts and minds of Thompson High School students and faculty since the terrible disaster in January. To show their support, the THS Student Government Association and Key Club joined together to raise money for the Red Cross and its relief efforts. Together, they set two goals: collect at least $2,000 and donate all money raised to the Red Cross. Students and faculty sold hearts as tickets to a faculty versus student basketball game. They also sold t-shirts with the fundraising slogan on the front. Over 1,200 students purchased hearts, made donations, and attended the basketball game on Friday, January 29. In addition, all shirts were sold within one day of having them available for purchase. At the close of the campaign, the THS SGA and Key Club presented a check for just over $4,000 to the local chapter of the Red Cross.
