BESSEMER, Ala. (AP) - Health officials say there's been an illness outbreak linked to the Alabama Adventure water park near Birmingham.
The state health department says three people have tested positive for a parasite that causes an illness known as cryptosporidiosis. There are five more probable cases of the illness among three households.
Symptoms include diarrhea along with cramping, headaches, nausea, vomiting and a low-grade fever, although not everyone experiences those problems.
Located in Bessemer, Alabama Adventure includes both a water park and a section with thrill and amusement rides. Health officials say the water park will be closed until it's fully decontaminated.
