MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama Attorney General Troy King is complaining about the rules for handling claims resulting from the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
King sent a letter Friday to attorney Kenneth Feinberg, who is running a new system that takes over Monday paying claims from BP's $20 billion escrow fund.
King says the system appears to be part of BP's strategy to limit payments. The attorney general says Feinberg isn't looking out for the best interests of people in Alabama.
The state already has filed suit against BP over damage from the oil spill.
New details show payments from the escrow fund will be based partly on how close a person or business is to the oil spill.
