Ala. ex-chancellor sentencing to be delayed
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Sentencing for Roy W. Johnson, former chancellor of Alabama's two-year college system will be delayed.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Alabama requested a delay on Tuesday. Johnson's sentencing had been set for Sept. 2.
Johnson's hearing has been postponed several times since he pleaded guilty to 15 federal charges more than two years ago.
Johnson, who served as president of Southern Union State Community College before serving as system chancellor, pleaded guilty in 2008 to charges of bribery, conspiracy to commit bribery, conspiracy to commit money laundering and witness tampering.
Johnson was ordered earlier this year to forfeit approximately $18.2 million and his Opelika home.
