One woman has died after she and nine children were struck by a car this afternoon near Forest Hills Middle School in Fairfield.
The woman was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital this evening.
All the children were transported to various hospitals for other injuries. One child is in serious condition after surgery at Children's Hospital in Birmingham.
Witnesses tell NBC13HD that a 67-year-old woman was picking up a child, lost control of her car, and hit a group of people standing near the school.
Authorities are taking the woman’s car to be investigated.
