FOLEY, Ala. (AP) - Foley employees who run out if sick leave
during the flu season will be able to borrow days from future
allotments under a policy approved by the City Council.
Foley Mayor John Koniar said the new city sick leave policy will
allow workers to stay at home during a flu outbreak without a loss
of pay.
The Press-Register reports that under the new policy approved
Monday, a worker who runs out of sick time can take additional days
off with pay.
Assistant city administrator Sandra Pate said about 40 Foley
employees have five days or less of sick leave.
That's either because they have already taken time off or have
not worked for the city long enough to have accumulated more time.
Some employees can telecommute if they're tending sick family
members or are still quarantined.
