FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Several law enforcement agencies have
spent the day searching in south-central North Carolina for a
5-year-old girl.
Shaniya Davis was last seen Tuesday. Her mother, Antoinette
Nicole Davis, reported her missing but was charged today with human
trafficking and child abuse involving prostitution.
A spokesman for the Fayetteville Police Department says other
agencies helped in a search between Spring Lake and Sanford, which
are 25 miles apart. The search was based on a tip, but police
wouldn't elaborate. It was suspended at dark.
A surveillance camera recorded the man charged in her kidnapping
carrying the girl into a hotel room on Tuesday. He's been
identified as Mario Andrette McNeill.
Shaniya's father, Bradley Lockhart, told The Associated Press
that he raised his daughter for several years but last month
decided to let her stay with her mother.
