BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - One new U.S. attorney for Alabama is
already on the job. Another is close to being approved. But the
third one is caught in political turmoil.
U.S. Rep. Artur Davis said Democrats have been unable to settle
on a chief federal prosecutor for Alabama's Middle Division, which
is based in Montgomery.
He told The Birmingham News that the search by President Obama's
administration continues because Alabama's two Republican senators
voiced concerns about the first two candidates.
Obama's choice for Alabama's Northern District, Joyce Vance, has
already been approved by the U.S. Senate and is on the job in
Birmingham.
Kenyen Brown is a congressional staffer who was Obama's nominee
for Alabama's Southern District in Mobile. Brown has been approved
by a Senate committee and is awaiting a vote by the full Senate.
