Search for body of Ala. baby at landfill suspended

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Montgomery police have suspended a
landfill search for the body of a baby they believe was placed in
the trash.
Police started the investigation after a doctor called and told
them about a pregnant woman who had refused to allow doctors to
deliver her baby on Oct. 19.
They say the doctor told them the woman showed up a week later
no longer pregnant and complaining of cold-like symptoms.
Maj. Huey Thornton, a Montgomery police spokesman, says officers
searched a landfill in Opelika on Tuesday. He says police called
off a search at a Tallassee landfill when they discovered that all
loads were sent to Opelika.
Thornton says police will meet with the district attorney's
office to determine if there is enough evidence to make a case.
