Ala. woman indicted in Tenn. newborn kidnapping

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - An Alabama woman has been indicted on
charges of kidnapping a Tennessee newborn.
Tammy Renee Silas has been in custody since Oct. 2 after police
found the week-old infant, Yahir Anthony Carrillo, at her home in
Ardmore, Ala. He was kidnapped and his mother stabbed three days
earlier at their Nashville home.
Court filings made available on Thursday show the grand jury
returned the indictment Wednesday. That was the day after Her
attorney told a judge that the 39-year-old Silas had tried commit
suicide in jail and that certain mental health medications have
been withheld from her.
Silas wasn't indicted on any charges related to the stabbing of
the mother, Maria Gurrola.
