BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Judge Scott Coogler has given prosecutors 11 days for respond to Larry Langford's request for a new trial.
Wednesday, Langford filed a motion asking Coogler for a new trial and change of venue following his federal fraud conviction a week earlier.
It took a jury less than two hours to convict Langford on all 60 counts in a public corruption case involving alleged bribes he received for helping his friends win Jefferson Count bond business.
In Wednesday's filing, Langford's attorney cited the judge's refusal to allow testimony about Langford's generosity and the brevity of the jury's deliberations as reasons he should be granted a new trial.
