NBC13HD has learned that one member of the Alabama Army National Guard’s 135th Expeditionary Sustainment Command was wounded today in the attacks at Fort Hood, but is reported to be OK.

Some 260 members of the Alabama Army National Guard’s 135th Expeditionary Sustainment Command departed from Birmingham on Nov. 1 for a tour of duty in Afghanistan and are in Fort Hood, Texas, now.

The unit reported to Fort Hood for an intensive train-up period before deploying to Afghanistan in early December.

The unit will coordinate and oversee the receipt, movement, storage and distribution of supplies, equipment and personnel across the country.

A departure ceremony for the unit was held at John Carroll High School Saturday, Oct. 31.

Many members of the 135th ESC who left for Fort Hood on Sunday have already been on two or more overseas rotations.

They are part of the nearly 15,000 Alabama Army and Air Guard personnel who have activated and deployed since Sept. 11, 2001.
