Jefferson County - Testimony shows a former male stripper accused in the stabbing
deaths of his estranged girlfriend and three other people at a home in
Hueytown has a history of mental problems.
A psychiatrist testified Monday during a hearing in
Jefferson County that 24-year-old Scott Lamar Abbott has a history
of psychiatric treatment dating back to his childhood.
Also during Monday's hearing, the judge denied a request
from Abbott's attorney to check Abbott into Taylor Hardin
Secure Mental Health Facility. Instead, doctors will go to the jail
for Abbott's mental competency evaluation.
The next preliminary hearing is set for April 2, 2009.
