BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford and his two co-defendants want a federal judge to delay their public corruption trial.

Right now the case against Langford, William Blount and Albert LaPierre is set to go before a jury on May 4, 2009.

In a joint 14 page motion filed in federal court today, three men argued large volumes of computer filed evidence would make it impossible to prepare a proper defense by May.

The three men were charged last year in 101 count federal indictment.

Langford is accused of accepting gifts from Blount and LaPierre for lucrative contracts surrounding Jefferson County's sewer bond swap deals.

All three men have pleaded not guilty.
