Tuscaloosa river rescue saves child and adults

Three people, including a 3 year old child, were rescued from a river in Tuscaloosa County this past weekend.

Three people, including a 3 year old child, were rescued from a river in Tuscaloosa County this past weekend.
According to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office, on March 7, 2009, at approximately 3:30 a.m., deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Highway 140 in Buhl.
A vehicle had plunged into the Sipsey River and had a 3 year old trapped in the vehicle.
When deputies arrived, they saw a vehicle in the water and two adults sitting on the roof of the vehicle.
One of the deputies entered the water to search for a missing 3 year old that was trapped in the vehicle.
Other emergency vehicles arrived and shined their lights in the water to assist the deputy in searching for the missing child.
The deputy extended his search about 300 yards west of the vehicle.
The deputy saw what appeared to be the child floating on top of the water about 30 yards from where he was searching.
The deputy swam to the child and took him to the bank where volunteer firefighters began CPR until medical personnel arrived and transported the child to the hospital.
The accident is being investigated by the state troopers.
There's no word on the condition of the child.
