Investigators believe alcohol may have played a role in the drowning.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating what appears to be an accidental drowning.

It happened about 3:15 p.m. Sunday in the Shady Grove area near the Village Creek Bridge.

Investigators say a 51 year old Adamsville man fell down an embankment into the water, then drowned before others were able to get him out of the water.

Witnesses attempted CPR but could not revive him.

The victim has not been indentified.

Investigators believe alcohol may have played a role in the accident.
