BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---
Prosecutors showed a letter from John Katopodis to Richard Scrushy outlining a piano gift for Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford.
Katopodis is on trial for claims he misused tax money intended for a children's computer charity.
Defense witness Jerry Brannan had testified he found no record of the charity's money being used to buy Larry Langford a piano.
Then while he was being cross examined by prosecutor George Martin he was shown a letter wrote Richard Scrushy about the piano.
"Larry was thrilled with the guitar as he was with the digital piano which I delivered yesterday," Katopodis wrote.
The piano was valued at $7,500 but Katopodis bought it for $1,917 at Hudson's Treasure Hunt.
In the letter, Katopodis asks for Scrushy to go half on the piano, ultimately the charity $958.50, according to prosecutors.
Defense attorneys said they hoped to wrap their case this afternoon.
