OZARK – Governor Bob Riley will tour the Aviation Technology Training Center at the Enterprise-Ozark Community College Aviation Campus on Tuesday, June 30 at 10:00 a.m. The center is located at 3405 U.S. Highway 231 South.
At the three-building training center, students study theory in a classroom setting and apply that theory in hands-on applications in laboratories. The center offers three programs of study: airframe technology, powerplant technology and avionics technology. The training program is essential to serve nearby Fort Rucker and the many companies which perform contracted services related to rotary wing aircraft maintenance.
The Ozark training center is one of four aviation training centers launched during the Riley Administration to prepare Alabama’s workforce for careers in the growing aviation and aerospace field. Other aviation training centers are located in Mobile, Albertville and Andalusia. Alabama is home to more than 300 aviation and aerospace companies.
Governor Riley has emphasized the need to increase workforce training efforts in three expanding industries: aviation, maritime and robotics. Earlier today, Governor Riley joined state and local officials to inaugurate construction of a new $12 million Maritime Science Center to train workers to construct ships in the Mobile area. Last year, the Governor announced the state would build a new robotics research and training complex at Calhoun Community College in Morgan County.
