BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---
Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford's wife testified in federal court Friday on behalf of John Katipodis.
Katopodis is accused of misusing hundreds of thousands of tax dollars set a side for a computer charity.
Katopodis argues he was spending his own money he had deposited in the charity's bank account.
Melva Langford denied that Katopodis ever bought them a $4,800 television that earlier testimony implied.
She also said she does not remember Katopodis giving them a 1965 convertible Corvair for which prosecutors claim Katopodis spent $4,000 of charity to buy from a friend.
She does recall Katopodis and Richard Scrushy bought the Langfords a piano.
Prosecutors say Katopodis used Computer Help for Kids charity money to buy the musical gift.
Finally, Melva Langford admitted that she and her husband Larry have traveled to New Orleans with Katopodis and gambled at a casino.
Defense testimony will resume Monday morning at 9:00 a.m.
