MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama is planning a crackdown on drunken driving during the two weeks leading up to Labor Day.
Gov. Bob Riley says a campaign called "Drunk Driving: Over the Limit, Under Arrest" will run from Aug. 21 to Sept. 7. Extra law enforcement officers will be on the highways during those days.
The governor has awarded $250,000 in grants to help pay overtime for law enforcement during the campaign. The money came from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
