To date, thirty- four (34) chargeable Homicides have been reported in the City of Birmingham during 2009, compared to thirty-five (35) at this time in 2008.
Homicide #34: Occurred on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at approximately 11:45 p.m., at 849 Center Way Southwest.
The victim has been identified as:
Mewburn Humphrey, 35, B/M, of 849 Center Way Southwest, Birmingham, Alabama.
Officers from the South Precinct were dispatched and responded to the incident location with a report of a male shot. Upon arrival, officers observed the victim lying inside the residence with apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
This case is still under investigation.
