PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - A federal prosecutor wants a separate mental evaluation of an Indiana financial adviser accused of trying to fake his death in a plane crash after he called a New York tabloid from his Florida jail cell.

In a court filing on Friday, the prosecutor seeks a determination of Marcus Schrenker's mental status when he put his
small plane on autopilot and jumped out over the Harpersville-Childersburg area before he was arrested by U.S. Marshals.

Schrenker told the New York Post that he doesn't remember flying the plane.

A federal judge has already ordered an evaluation to determine Schrenker's competency for trial.

Authorities believe he crashed the plane to escape financial ruin.
