Leonards New England of Seekonk, Massachusetts has been open since 1933, but it's never had a customer like this.

On Friday, the company is sending one of its antique beds to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

"This is the first time I get to go to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. to deliver a bed," said Jeff Jenkins. "It's not even about the money. It's about a great product going to a pretty famous house.

"In the Obamas' case, we restored the old finish. So it's actually an 1820s finish and an 1820s bed fitted with wider parts so that it can fit a king-size box spring and mattress," he explained.

Jenkins couldn't say if it was for Barack Obama himself, but he described how the store, which specializes in antique beds, was chosen.

"The designer for the White House is Michael Smith, and he was hired by the Obamas," Jenkins said. "I've done several jobs for Michael and he's based in California. His philosophy is a little more casual and livable."

Thanks to Smith, Leonards has furnished the homes of Hollywood stars like Bill Cosby and Robert Redford, but apparently nothing compares to delivering a bed to the White House.
