The child was wounded when a rifle accidently discharged.

Sheriffs deputies say a 2 year old little girl was woulded when her Uncle's rifle accidently went off. He was removing the gun from his truck when it discharged hitting the little girl. The accident happenen about 5:30 p.m. in the 7700 block of Taylor Shop Road in Clay near the St. Clair County line.

Jefferson County Sheriff's PIO Lt. Randy Christian says the bullet passed through the passenger door of the truck and struck the child who was standing outside the truck.
Paramedics treated the little girl who was then transported to Children's Hospital.

The Sheriffs Office reports that the injury appears to be non life threatening and the child is expected to fully recover.
